Trigger warning: This post will be discussing sexual assault and the Jane Doe case at Cornell University.
For the month of October, we will be donating 1% of all net site proceeds to the Joyful Heart Foundation. This means that every order placed on our site from October 1 through October 31 goes to the Foundation—you don’t have to do anything extra.
Joyful Heart is a national nonprofit organization, founded in 2004 by Mariska Hargitay, that supports survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse on their path to justice and healing.
For our team, which is mostly women, what happened with Jane Doe at Cornell isn’t just another news story; it hits incredibly close to home. We want to recognize that simply donating doesn’t feel like enough, and simply speaking up feels inadequate. But the ultimate self-care is community care. While donations aren’t the whole answer, it is definitely one way brands can show up for their communities. (We shared more about why this matters to us on Instagram. Trigger warning: that post discusses sexual assault.)
If you want to learn more about the incredible work Joyful Heart is doing, we invite you to go and explore their website. And if you’d like to give directly to the organization, you can do so here.
And if you or anyone you know needs support, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center and has a directory of organizations that includes regional sexual assault coalitions, national support groups, and local communities of color organizations.
This donation is possible because of the Dieux community, so from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
